As we age, what matters is having the energy, joie de vivre, muscle and brain power to do what we want andneed to do, together with the physical and mentalresilience to spring back from life’s ups and downs. Public health expert Sir Muir Gray, one of the UK’s leading publichealth experts, will explain how the steps we take throughout life and into middle age can help us live a longer, rewarding, active and healthier old age.

If you are in your 20s, 30s or even 40s, then you might think that this month’s event is not for you. Although ageing is something we mostly avoid thinking about, if we start soon enough we can help ourselves to enjoy a longer, rewarding and healthier later life. However, the benefits don’t start only when we reach the later years. There are advantages to be gained all through life, boosting our energy and joie de vivre, not to mention muscle and brain power.

Professor Sir Muir Gray is an internationally renowned health expert, based in Oxford, and has published a number of books on the subject of ageing well, the most recent being “Sod 60”, written with Dr Claire Parker, an Oxford GP.  We will learn what steps we can take throughout life to help us develop both physical and mental resilience, enabling us to spring back from life’s ups and downs and prepare us for rewarding, active and healthier later years too.
